Basel (Baden) is the last stop in Germany before you reach Basel SBB in Switserland. It is a place where a lot of train activity takes place.

All through trains, except for the special F class TEE (Trans Europe Express), ICE (Inter City Express) and EC (Euro City), stop there to take on/let off customs and border patrol personnel. In case of the F class trains the customs gets on/off at the previous stop.

Except for limited Swiss engines which are equiped for operation in Germany as well as Switserland, all Swiss traction must be changed to German engines.

Freight trains must stop to get their papers stamped, and are occasionally inspected.

The station has 4 tracks: 1 Track for the Freight Depot, Track 1 a Dead End track for service to/from Germany (Also used by a all mail train), and 1 through track for passenger embarcation and 2 through tracks not normally used by passengers.

There is local service (Track 1) to Konstanz by a ET 485, and to Basel (SBB) by a Swiss Arrow. Other through trains are not as yet operational.
